『動物の愛護及び管理に関する法律』とは何か
（昭和四十八年法律第百五号）
動物愛護法の正式名称は『動物の愛護及び管理に関する法律』です。
この法律は、動物の愛護と動物の管理に関する決まりを定めてます。
（第１章から第６章までの6つの章にわかれており、各章に第１条から第50条の計50条からなります。）
動物愛護法の各章の概要

環境省が管轄している
動物の愛護及び管理に関する法律については、環境省の管轄となります。
動物愛護法の対象動物
人に飼われている「哺乳類、鳥類、爬虫類に属する動物」及び飼い主の有無にかかわらない全ての「牛、馬、豚、めん羊、山羊、犬、猫、いえうさぎ、鶏、いえばと、あひる」が対象となります。
哺乳類、鳥類、爬虫類に該当しない動物（魚類や両生類等）については、飼育下・野生のいずれも対象外となります。
条文の数は第３章が28条文（全50条文中）と半分以上を占める
各章における条文の数は、第１章（4）、第２章（2）、第３章（28）、第４章（5）、第５章（４）、第６章（７）の計50の条文があります。
中でも「第３章 動物の適正な取扱い」は28の条文と全50条のうちの半分以上を占めている事から、
対象動物に対しての適切な取り扱いを特に重要視していると思われます。
